POSITION SUMMARY
Performs complex cost accounting functions, including: computing employee and equipment costs; compiling data related to project and location costs; reconciling and balancing accounts, reports, etc.; generating various reports; and performing clerical support functions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
One year certificate from college or technical school; and,
Two to three years of progressively responsible related experience; or,
Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the essential functions of the job.
Licenses and Certifications:
Notary Public
Valid Colorado Driver’s License
CPR and First Aid
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (All responsibilities may not be performed by all incumbents.)
Performs cost accounting functions, including: collecting and computing employee and equipment costs; calculating employee and equipment hours; coding employee sick, vacation, overtime hours, etc., and posting information to ledger and computer systems; reconciling and balancing employee hours, equipment usage and benefits information preparing vouchers; and maintaining and monitoring various inventories.
Processes fuel usage information, including: obtaining usage reports from fuel management system and/or staff; compiling relevant data; preparing invoices and forwarding to appropriate departments; preparing various reports; and posting information to ledger.
Answers phone, takes messages, screens phone calls, determines nature and priority of calls, provides information to callers, receives citizen complaints, directs calls and messages to appropriate person.
Prepares complex, routine and non-routine reports for project, road and equipment costs utilizing a variety of software; receives, sorts, and summarizes material for the preparation of reports; prepares work reports; reconciles reports; relays and interprets administrative decisions, policies and instructions.
Submits required notifications to various agencies; issues permits.
Assists with hiring processes by submitting required information and coordinating license checks and per-employment physicals for selected applicants.
Prepares and updates equipment lists, cost sheets and related forms; updates employee unit numbers for radio list.
Researches accounting problems or questions.
Develops and maintains various filing systems.
Types letters, memos, labels, reports, purchase orders, requisitions, forms or other correspondence on a computer.
Opens, stamps, sorts, and distributes incoming, interoffice, and/or outgoing mail.
Files and retrieves documents in an orderly fashion so that materials can be easily located.
IMPORTANT JOB FUNCTIONS:
Disseminates a variety of information to various agencies, divisions, or departments via telephone, mail, or FAX.
Performs the functions of the supervisor in his/her absence.
May serve as backup for other positions within the department.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
