Position Summary

Manages staff and coordinates activities associated with providing casework services to citizens, including: overseeing investigation and assessment functions; requesting funding; developing and overseeing contracts with providers; working with various agencies; and making recommendations and implementing changes to policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field; and,

· Two to three years of progressively responsible related experience; or,

· Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Licenses and Certifications:

· Valid Colorado driver's license (depending on assignment)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (All responsibilities may not be performed by all incumbents.)

· Carries out supervisory/managerial responsibility in accordance with policies, procedures and applicable laws, including: interviewing, hiring and training staff; planning, assigning and directing caseloads and work; establishing deadlines; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; approving leave; coordinating, developing and approving staff training; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

· Plans, coordinates, assigns, and monitors performance and coaches, counsels, mentors, trains, and advises employees in department for the dual goals of meeting department goals and employee career development; assists staff in the completion of assigned tasks.

· Oversees staff functions associated with department services, including: sexual abuse investigation and treatment, crisis intervention, physical abuse, child neglect assessment, foster care, delinquent youth; youth in conflict, day care, core services, intake process, investigation/assessment, therapeutic services, and foster homes.

· Assists in the formulation of the budget, including: making recommendations; requesting funds; and maintaining/tracking budget accounts/records throughout year.

· Revises and monitors the Core Services and Independent Living Services Plan; contracts with providers and monitors provision of services.

· Serves as a liaison and/or member of various committees, boards, and/or teams and collaborates, persuades, presents reports to and negotiates with others outside own work area to coordinate efforts and maintain cooperative and efficient relations.

· Makes final decisions regarding the resolution of abuse and neglect complaints.

· Approves the filing of court actions on behalf of clients; determines the course of legal action for same.

· Approves treatment plans and staff training for provision of services.

· Interprets, develops, communicates, updates and monitors agency, governmental and/or program policies and procedures; recommends improvement when necessary; writes/revises same; and disseminates information to staff.

· Prepares complex, routine and non-routine reports utilizing a variety of software; receives, sorts, and summarizes material for the preparation of reports; receives and review reports; makes corrections; relays and interprets administrative decisions, policies and instructions.

· Composes correspondence in accordance with standard policies; answers various inquiries; explains policies and procedures and arranges appointments; processes routine and non-routine matters independently.

· Reports administrative and/or operational problems to director.

· Enters information into a computer terminal; uses the computer system to retrieve a variety of daily, monthly and yearly reports; maintains routine financial records.
