POSITION SUMMARY
This is a temporary position for up to 9 months (this may be shortened or extended depending on funding and the course of the pandemic.) Responsible for controlling the spread of COVID-19 and interviewing reported cases, identifying contacts of cases and implementing disease control measures by contacting individuals by phone who have contracted COVID-19 and inquire of past contacts over 14 day period and supplying the Public Health Director and Public Health Nurse with the data collected. This role will require flexibility with regard to working remotely and at various times.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED;
- Six months of progressively responsible related experience; or,
- Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Public health or healthcare setting work experience or education preferred, but not required.
Licenses and Certifications:
- None
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (All responsibilities may not be performed by all incumbents.)
- Call contacts of newly diagnosed patients and clearly communicating the reason for calling the individual.
- Collecting and recording all required information and conducting a basic symptom check of contact using the COVID-19 contact form.
- Clearly communicating the approved information about local regulations as it related to quarantine and self-isolation.
- Following scripts to ensure all contacts understand the importance of following all regulations and guidelines;
- Responsible for escalating all issues and complications to the Public Health Nurse.
IMPORTANT JOB FUNCTIONS:
