COURT SECURITY DEPUTY SHERIFF

POSITION SUMMARY
Performs functions related to maintaining the security and safety of the Moffat County Courts, District Courts, Probation and District Attorney’s Office; Completing Required Documents; Effecting arrests; responding to medical and other emergencies; and performing other Law Enforcement Duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to read and write the English language
- High School Diploma or GED;
- One to two years of progressively related experience; or
- Any combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License
- Colorado Peace Officers Standards and Training Certification
- Arrest Control Certification
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- Fire Arms Qualified by Department Instructors.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (All responsibilities may not be performed by all incumbents.)
Performs searches of all personnel and property entering the secured Combined Courts; performs law enforcement duties; performs visual, pat, and equipment searches; prepares and completes various documents and reports and entering related information into computer system; requests or obtains criminal history and warrant information; conducting visual and audio surveillance; collecting contraband and completing reports regarding same.
Performs maintenance and minor repairs on assigned equipment; inspects and tests equipment to assure safety.
Performs administrative functions, including: maintaining logs; maintaining computer-recording devices; and submitting quarterly reports.
Prepares complex, routine and non-routine reports; receives, sorts, and summarizes material for the preparation of reports; prepares work reports; relays and interprets administrative decisions, policies and instructions.
Opens all offices and performs a courtesy search of all areas of the top floor. Assists in securing offices and other areas of the courthouse, at the end of the shift.
Responds to medical and other emergency situations.
Submits maintenance requests for facility.
Maintains weapons, equipment, and uniforms in functional manner.
- Ability to assist other Law Enforcement Agencies as needed
IMPORTANT JOB FUNCTIONS:
Reports administrative and/or operational problems to supervisor.
Responds to fires and related emergency situations, as needed.
Participates in various training activities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
