POSITION SUMMARY

Serves as lead worker and performs functions related to various detention services, including: overseeing and performing food preparation for inmates; and performing related clerical and administrative functions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education and Experience:

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; and,
  • One to two years of progressively responsible related experience; or,
  • Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • CPR/First Aid

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (All responsibilities may not be performed by all incumbents.)

  • Carries out lead worker responsibilities including: training in job skills, assigning, directing and reviewing work; effecting minor disciplinary measures; assuring adherence to safety practices; hearing and resolving complaints; and reporting problems to supervisor.
  • Coordinates facility food preparation and cleaning functions, including: preparing menus; planning meals to meet dietary requirements; participating in the preparation of meals; and assuring utensils and equipment are properly cleaned and sanitized.
  • Researches and makes recommendations for equipment, food, etc.; estimates weekly needs and places orders; receives deliveries and stocks and maintains inventory; makes budget recommendations.
  • Coordinates all laundry functions.
  • Prepares complex, routine and non‑routine reports utilizing a variety of software; receives, sorts, and summarizes material for the preparation of reports; prepares work reports.
  • Files and retrieves documents in an orderly fashion so that materials can be easily located.

IMPORTANT JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Photocopies reports, memos, and other various documents for staff; reformats and/or updates forms.
  • May serve as backup for other positions within the department.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
