POSITION SUMMARY
Supervises staff and performs functions related to fairgrounds and cemetery management, including: developing long and short-range plans; overseeing the budget; developing and implementing policies and procedures managing the design, planning, and construction of facilities; maintaining and repairing equipment and machinery; coordinating fairground events with various parties; and overseeing functions of the cemetery such as maintenance and grounds care.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED; and,
Four to five years of progressively responsible related experience; or,
Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid Colorado driver's license
- Class B CDL required withing one-year of employment (Class A Preferred)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (All responsibilities may not be performed by all incumbents.)
- Carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with department policies, procedures, and applicable laws including: interviewing, hiring and training, planning, assigning and directing work; establishing deadlines; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Plans, coordinates, assigns, and monitors department performance and coaches, counsels, mentors, trains, and advises employees in department for the dual goals of meeting department goals, BOCC goals, and employee career development.
- Direct the maintenance and operation of the facilities in connection with the presentation of a wide variety of shows, exhibitions, and meetings; check with clients to ascertain needs for particular events and plan and prepare the needed facilities and operations staff required for clients' specific needs.
- Assist in programming and planning for additional facilities or for repairs or modifications to existing facilities such as construction, plumbing and electrical work; prepare preliminary estimates for work to be done and make recommendations on needed changes; prepare specifications for minor construction projects and supervise the work;
- Supervise the requisitioning, accounting for, and storage of materials, supplies, tools and equipment; direct the operation and maintenance of motor equipment used in connection with buildings and grounds maintenance; direct enforcement of fire and safety codes and protection of patrons and property
- Interprets, develops, communicates, updates, and/or monitors ordinances, policies, procedures, and standards for the department and County.
- Assists in the maintenance of facilities, grounds, cemetery, and equipment, including: cleaning, repairing, and replacing equipment and facilities; preparing facilities for events; performing grounds maintenance functions; painting equipment, buildings, etc.; and maintaining facilities and equipment to assure safety.
- Schedules facilities for usage by completing reservation documents and collecting fees; records events using audiovisual equipment; inspects facilities after usage for cleanup, damage, etc..
- Assists with the development of the budget; tracks maintenance costs; provides information regarding expenses; purchases equipment and supplies; processes payments.
- Carries out the completion of capitals projects; identifies future improvements and equipment purchases; estimates costs.
- Maintains buildings and equipment to ensure compliance with applicable building codes; inspects facilities/apartments; conducts safety inspections.
- Performs ground maintenance functions, including: shoveling snow; de-icing sidewalks; maintaining sprinkler systems; mowing grass; trimming shrubs; maintaining parking lots and sidewalks; and repairing handrails, doors, etc.
IMPORTANT JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Maintains and upgrades professional knowledge, skills, and development by attending seminars and training programs and reading trade and professional journals and publications.
- Operation and maintenance of motor equipment used in buildings and grounds maintenance.
- Interacts with a variety of high-level individuals, both internally and within the community to provide clean and safe facilities for public and County use.
- Follows up on inquiries from various agencies/groups regarding department programs and services.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
