GROUNDS/FACILITIES MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

POSITION SUMMARY
Supervises staff and performs grounds and facilities maintenance duties, including: maintaining and performing minor repairs to equipment, grounds and systems; supervising facility operations; assisting in budget development and maintenance processes; and scheduling preventive maintenance functions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED; and,
- Three to five years of progressively responsible related experience; or,
- Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid Colorado Driver's License
- Certified Pesticide Applicator License (depending on assignment)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (All responsibilities may not be performed by all incumbents.)
- Carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with policies, procedures and applicable laws including: interviewing, hiring and training staff; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Oversees and participates in grounds maintenance functions, including: mowing and edging lawns, ball fields, etc.; trimming trees and shrubbery; removing weeds; raking and disposing of leaves; repairing sprinkler systems, fences, dugouts, etc.; preparing sports fields for play by dragging fields and applying lime; removing snow; preparing arenas by watering and working the ground; and removing trash.
- Oversees and participates in facilities operations and maintenance functions, including: maintaining equipment; operating and making minor repairs to facility equipment (Zamboni, playground equipment, etc.); painting; servicing heating, air conditioning, electrical and plumbing systems; cleaning restrooms, exercise rooms and other public areas; assisting with ticket office and concession functions; scheduling facility usage; collecting fees; and assuring lighting systems are properly programmed and working.
- Assists in budget development and related administration processes, including: ordering equipment and supplies; researching costs and vendors; and consulting with supervisor regarding unplanned repairs/maintenance.
- Performs pool maintenance, including; water testing; filter cleaning, chemical application; and pool and fixture repairs.
- Oversees the work of general contractors.
- Maintains equipment and vehicles, including: repairing and replacing parts; washing and cleaning; and performing preventative maintenance functions.
- Operates a variety of power and hand tools utilized in ground maintenance activities.
- Performs routine maintenance on various power or hand tools and equipment including lubricating, changing oil and sharpening.
- Performs maintenance and routine repairs on irrigation and sprinkler systems.
IMPORTANT JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assists in planning construction projects; performs general construction and building functions.
- Disseminates a variety of information to various agencies, divisions, or departments via telephone, mail or FAX.
- May serve as backup for other positions within the department.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
