POSITION SUMMARY
Performs technical information systems analysis functions, including: support of the County’s computer network, hardware, software, end-users, and general database functions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience: One year certificate from college or technical school; and,
Two to three years of progressively responsible related experience; or,
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Colorado Driver's License, and be able to pass a police background check and submit fingerprints.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:
Using a variety of server and desktop operating systems, software, hardware, and networks.
Network devices and installation of network cabling/wiring for systems and peripheral equipment.
Audio visual technologies and service management practices. Occasionally attends meetings to provide technical assistance for AV equipment and electronic presentations.
Applicable state, federal and local ordinances, codes, laws, rules and regulations and legislative issues.
Correct English usage, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary.
Complex mathematical functions.
Record keeping, report preparation, filing methods and records management techniques.
Skill in:
Using computer hardware and software equipment.
Troubleshooting information systems problems.
Installing, configuring and maintaining computer hardware, software and networks.
Providing assistance on end-user technology problems including hardware, software, telephones and related equipment (monitors, scanners, printers, hotspots, audio devices).
Preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials.
Using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.
Researching, compiling, and summarizing a variety of informational and statistical data and materials.
Organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up on assignments with a minimum of direction.
Applying logical thinking to solve problems or accomplish tasks; to understand, interpret and communicate complicated policies, procedures and protocols.
Communicating orally with internal staff, citizens, and other departmental staff in order to give and receive information in a courteous manner.
Operating and routine maintenance of general office machines such as copiers, facsimile machines and telephone systems.
Mental and Physical Abilities:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as operation and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and so forth.
Ability to construct, install and maintain networks.
Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions, giving close attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in complex situations.
While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects; ascend and descend stairs; climb on to equipment; move about on hands and knees or hands and feet, bend body downward and forward, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles, reach with hands and arms; speak and hear; and push, pull and/or lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 51 to 100 pounds occasionally.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in various offices exposing the incumbent to various atmospheric conditions; conditions such as fumes, noxious odors, dusts, mists, gases and poor ventilation that affect the respiratory system, eyes or the skin; possible bodily injury from moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools, or machinery, toxic or caustic chemicals, and/or risk of electrical shock.
The incumbent's working conditions are typically moderately quiet.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (All responsibilities may not be performed by all incumbents.)
Installs and configures computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
Deploys new equipment and maintains and/or repairs existing equipment.
Resolves computer or network hardware/software problems when there are no available precedents, guidelines, or policies, by drawing upong experience, research, input from peers and other problem-solving alternatives.
Responds to telephone, email, and personnel requests for technical support. Track and monitor the problem to ensure a timely resolution.
Provides database support for various departments.
Responsible for security of PC systems, administers password access control to workstations and network resources.
Provides reinforcement for telecommunication efforts supported by County departments.
Conducts new worker computer orientation training and employee training on PC applications.
IMPORTANT JOB FUNCTIONS:
Disseminates a variety of information and/or reports to various agencies, division, or departments via telephone, mail, email or FAX.
Maintains and upgrades knowledge, skills, and development by attending seminars and training programs and reading trade and professional journals and publications.
Reports administrative and/or operational problems to supervisor.
May serve as backup for other positions within the department.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
