POSITION SUMMARY

Performs a variety of complex fiscal and tax collection functions associated treasury functions, including: collecting and processing of tax payments, by mail and over the counter, recording and depositing funds, including preparing the daily bank deposit; preparing legal documents; reconciling accounts; updating tax rolls; preparing delinquent tax information; answering taxpayer questions; preparing and processing documents related to mobile homes, including title change documents, moving permits, title purge applications; and performing related clerical duties; answering the office phone, waiting on the counter.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED; and,

  • Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Notary Public

  • Valid Colorado Driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (All responsibilities may not be performed by all incumbents.)

  • Completes various treasury functions, including: processing tax payments, tax lien certificates and endorsements;  certificates of taxes due, preparing, maintaining and recording Title Company certificate billings; preparing other certificates and forms; mailing and preparing tax statements for mailing, etc.; making and preparing daily bank and inter-county deposits, daily balancing of funds; processing/reconciling clerk warrants; conducting various tax-related searches; processing redemption certificates; maintaining and updating tax rolls and codes; documenting and filing bankruptcy claims; preparing tax sale advertisements and submitting to the newspaper; maintaining records and filing systems; processing office-related forms, documents, etc.; answering auditors' questions, and providing them with required information; assisting in tax lien sale, and the preparation prior to tax lien sale; researching mineral surface owners; canceling payroll and accounts payable check; processing deposits from other offices; and writing checks; preparing records for storage, and moving records to and maintenance of the storage room.

  • Processes various fiscal functions, including: reconciling bank statements, accounts, reports, funds, etc.; preparing and maintaining daily balance sheets; maintaining investment funds balances and reports; dispersing investment interest to appropriate funds; posting direct deposits; posting payroll information; preparing bookkeeping entries; processing warrants and preparing for submission to the State; posting details of business transactions; collecting and processing deposits from various County departments; preparing daily deposits; balancing daily receipts; processing tax lien redemptions; and processing returned checks.

  • Performs clerical functions related to tax collection, posting of payments; preparation, processing, and mailing of 1099 Tax forms to IRS in the required time frame.

  • Prepares complex, routine and non-routine reports utilizing a variety of software; receives, sorts, and summarizes material for the preparation of reports; prepares work reports; relays and follows administrative decisions, policies, and instructions. Sets up excel spreadsheets.

  • Research records for various functions; files daily receipts into books; maintenance of storage room. Researches and corrects errors and accounting problems or questions.

  • Works with auditors by supplying requested information and answering questions.

  • Develops and maintains various filing systems.

  • Composes correspondence in accordance with standard policies; answers various inquiries; explains policies and procedures.

  • Types letters, memos, labels, reports, purchase orders, requisitions, forms, or other correspondence on a computer.

IMPORTANT JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Photocopies reports, memos, and other various documents for staff.

  • Disseminates a variety of information to various agencies, divisions, or departments via telephone, mail, or FAX.

  • May serve as backup for other positions within the department. If you lack the knowledge to perform these additional tasks, it is the employee’s responsibility to acquire this knowledge or ask the department head for additional training to assist them.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
